Hennessey F-Type R coupe: Time For Tea?

What does Jaguar's 550hp F-Type need? More power!

Of the few issues raised about the Jaguar F-Type R coupe, a paucity of horsepower certainly hasn't been one. Still, that hasn't stopped Hennessey doing a little tinkering on its F-Type demonstrator. Because why not go even faster?

The result is the HPE600 upgrade. Through a new supercharger pulley, ECU remap, HPE induction system and uprated intercooler Hennessey has found 623hp and 568lb ft from the F-Type. That's up from 550hp and 502lb ft as standard. And with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty. The video here is the HPE600 on the dyno and strip running on 93 octane fuel. Without wanting to ruin and suprise it's fast. Really, really fast.

But that's not the best part. Oh no. The F-Type's 5.0-litre V8 is of course used in other JLR products and Hennessey will gladly tweak those to HPE600 spec. A 620hp Jaguar XFR perhaps? Or Range Rover? Hmm...

See the video here.

3 year warranty covering what exactly? The new components?

I highly doubt Hennessey would cover the whole powertrain. That extra 100Nm could break stuff.

Aren't US drag strips shorter than their European equivalents? I know, I know, how can a quarter mile be anything but a quarter mile!?! But something about this rings true in the back of my mind.

I think it is more to do with the slope of some of the tracks.

And I think you are thinking of Gallons.

I think what you're talking about is when the NHRA stopped racing top fuel dragsters (and funnycars) over a quarter mile (1320ft) because the trap speeds were so high (>330mph) runoff was becoming a problem, and because of Scott Kalitta's 300mph blowup in 2008.
They now race over 1000ft, and are crossing the trap at 325mph+ again.

So, you take your F-type to John Hennessey, spend ages chasing him to get anything done, eventually go to his workshops and find your car a stripped wreck with everything of value removed and sold, then you spend ages litigating against him at considerable expense and the best you get back is a bodge-together making no more power than stock? That's what he's done to many of his customers... PH and the wider Haymarket empire need to stop publicising this fraudster. There are other, better tuners around than him.

That's quite a statement to make against Hennessey!

In fairness to the poster there is quite a large number of such stories available online.

One quote I remember was something on the lines of "basically, of you're an out of stater, you're fair game".
