Hi Lads

I'm making my way to Niece in southern France for a few days.

Anyone done this trip and what recommendations do ye have in terms of places to stay and visit, things to do etc

I have 3 or 4 days to get to Niece so time taken is not not really an issue

Any help much appreciated

Well, there's lots of things to see, but accommodation in Nice over Christmas/New Year might be a bit tricksy.

My God, where to start,
I'm not being funny, but I take it you mean Nice on the south coast.
If you're driving from England you are going the whole length of the country so there are dozens of places to see if you want to divert a bit.
First stop should be Paris, it's utterly fabulous, particularly if you like history and culture, and food!
Then there's Orleans, Auxerres, Dijon, Clermont-Ferrand, Lyon, St Etienne; then I would travel south west to Carcassonne, a beautifully preserved medieval city.
From there you can head east to Narbonne on the coast road and drive all the way along the Mediterranean coast to Nice; unforgettable!
You must remember however that France is a huge country and that is quite a bit of driving.
On the plus side the roads are utterly wonderful, 'specially compared to Britain and there are so many alternative routes to anywhere.
Buy yourself a good road map and "France the Rough Guide", that's all you need for a terrific trip.

Stick to the B roads and you'll have a blast. I assume you'll have a passenger that can read a map??

You'll have to take the mountain roads around Isola 2000 awesome......
