My car just died
Discussion
The Chim (99 450) died on me on this morning, and wouldn’t restart. It turned over but wouldn’t catch, and the breakdown man, when he arrived, said fuel startvation.
This is what happened:
Drove back from Yorkshire early Monday morning.
Ran low on fuel (but no stuttering), filled up near Stanstead.
Drove another 35 miles, and the car died on me about 3 miles from my house in Bromley (lots of fuel, energetic turning over, but will not catch).
Now, the alarm plipper won’t work. I used the immobiliser key to disarm immobiliser before it would turn over. Now it will not even turn over, but battery isn’t flat, and I cannot lock the car.
What do you think?
Perhaps I ran so low on fuel that muck got into the system and there is a blockage somewhere. Cannot work out why that would cause the alarm immobiliser to misbehave though. Any ideas?

put a set of jump leads on the car and jump it off another if the battery is low ish then it will cause the alarm to fireup and not start.
as for the pump listen to hear it prime the system before u start the engine ignition on listen, you should hear a high pitched whine if u do then try starting it. next try for a spark at the spark plugs the rotor arm is a common fault on the v8
