Had a 64 plate F Type come past me this morning, completely camo'd front end and a small camo patch on the bootlid where a badge would normally be... The most I coukd work out was that it was possibly a V6 as it had the centre exit tailpipes.

Over to you lot...

There are plenty of camouflaged Range Rovers and Jaguar's on the M6.

Seeing as it's on a 64 plate, assume it's a new engine of some sort or another. Possibly hybrid powered?

It won't be the facelift out and about just yet.

It'll be either the four wheel drive model, or the manual gearbox, or possibly both.

4wd means the engine mounted higher, the front end camo is to try and diguse a bonnet buldge because of the higher engine. So.... you saw a 4wd

Just what the already overweight F-Type needs... another 100kg of 4WD gubbins. It will make the V6S over 1,800kg.

Manual V6S would be a very tempting machine! 4WD though, who cares? biggrin

There is definitely at least 1 manual version knocking about as well, but no camo!

A straight four would need a higher bonnet, too...

I've seen a couple of coupe's out and about on the M1 / M6 in the last few days.
Rather disturbing how they resemble a Chrysler Crossfire from behind.

Someone who works at a Jag dealership told me he went to an event where they were testing a 4 cylinder f-type on a track. That was a couple of months ago maybe they're testing them on the road now.

A 4-cylinder F-type, I believe, is a reality. Massive shame, they should just make a baby sports car instead

Engines being tested in both coupe and soft top. 4wd cars being tested along with manuals, there's at least 30 different text cars.

I'm not really sure that dropping an engine that already exists, into a car that already exists costs the same as developing a brand new sports car.

Not really an either or thing.

A 4 cylinder F Type isn't far off a baby sports car - the interior and bootspace are both smaller than on my old mk3 MX-5.

What I mean though is not from JLR's view, but imagine in 2-3 years time you want to buy an F-type, 5ltr, 4wd etc, could be 100k. But there'll be folk going about in 2.0 ingenium f-types that cost ~40k (assuming they come in under the V6...
