Has anyone noticed or know of the reason for the rise in the difference in price of Unleaded v Super Unleaded...?

My car's both need Super Unleaded or V-power nitro etc. and there used to be a difference of 5-6 p per litre between the two... It is now averaging 10-13p or£10 per fill-up...😁

I am aware that the Super Unleaded or V-power nitro have more additives etc. and I do normally get an extra 1-2 mpg when I do a comparison between both types of fuel....

Having spent over £20k in petrol over the past 4 years it is starting to make me think that my next purchase will be a car that doesn't require the higher octane fuel....

Any thoughts or opinions....?

Commercial decision.

They will charge whatever they think the market will bear; premium car - premium fuel - premium price.

Most modern cars have knock sensors so will retard the timing with 95 ron, you can loose around 15% bhp and close to the same in mpg by going 95 ron, if that is what you were getting at.

It is still around 5% increase here, so a no brainer.

Tesco Momentum is 99 ron and is around 5p per litre cheaper than V - Power and the car runs equally well on both.
