I've just seen a police car driving about with a headlight out, am I allowed to pull him over and make a citizen's arrest?

Don't see why they should be allowed to get away with it. Normal motorists get pulled over for driving with a headlight out so why should it be different for plod?

It was always policy to check all lights before taking the car out

I didn't think a light out was an arrestable offence but I have been known to make an office aware that a defect has occured on his journey

Jesus Christ. Is it possible that much like on any car the light may have gone recently I.e. On that journey?

Police stop people for no lights to warn them so they can remedy the situation not normally booking them for it.

Any chance to have a go isn't it?

Given the headlights flash alternatively on an emergency run, could be quiet likely to have occurred since start of shift.

The number of cars with one headlight out seems to be on the increase.

The usual solution round here appears to be to put your footlights on to make up for it.

I once followed a police car that had just left a police station with a cup on the roof, rather than make a citizen's arrest for an insecure load I told him when he stopped next and he thanked me. A lot easier isn't it.

I'm surprised, did he not try and shoot you with his taser?

A liveried police car made an illegal turn at a junction, I beeped the horn and they gave me a funny look, sure they would have pulled over had I not gone in a completely different direction

My mate years ago not long after passing his test thought he'd be 'helpful' and flash a police car he was behind to tell him he had a brake light out.

Said police officer was very appreciative before doing my mate for 3 bald tyres, how we laughed!

I would have personally flashed him constantly until he stopped.

I would have then told him that he had a headlight out and failed in his duty of serving the public.

He then, and rightly so, would have arrested you for not having a life

I told a copper his tail light was broken. He beat me to death with his truncheon. Happily, I got better.

A policeman once stabbed me to death with a stabbing instrument for doing 32 in a 30. It was justified I suppose since I was "technically" speeding.

I got pulled over for speeding my a marked up car with a headlight out. Once he'd finished telling me off, I mentioned it to him and he hadn't noticed! Not sure if that was why he let me off, but I was grateful either way.

The other day I saw a Police car without any criminals handcuffed in the back seat.

I was so incensed on behalf of other people whom I have never met, that I considered going on Mumsnet to ask all the experts if I should stop paying income tax, as a result of my trauma.

But then I saw a Macdonalds and it slipped my mind.
