Hi Guys,

Does any of you have experience with the mounting of a kirkey seat in a Caterham??

I am a tall lad and need to go as low as possible - will one of these Work?

No idea, but lots of people go for the bag seat approach:

Kirkey seats are primarily for stock cars / saloons / drag cars. They're kind of ugly aren't they?

What exactly do you have already?
Tillet seats or S-type?
Adjustable on runners or fixed position?
Standard floor or lowered?

Yes - they are not the prettiest seats, but they are cheap and kan be bolted directly to the floor.. You can get a cover for them as well, which I think make them OK for my use: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/seat-acce...
I have the standard cloth seats mounted on runners at the moment. And I am sitting way to high!

I bet you are! you're sitting on a thick foam cushion mounted onto a frame mounted onto adjustable runners mounted on the floor...

Tillets would be my choice, with a lowered floor if necessary. Tillets can be bolted directly to the floor and you use plastic spacers to set the angle of recline, they are about the most comfortable rigid seats I've ever tried and look factory original. If you have a floor re-enforcement panel you can remove this which'll make you about 10mm lower, or you can hammer a depression into it to accomodate the domed bottom of the Tillet.

My recommendation- remove the seat and sit in the car without the seat. This will give you an idea of whether you will need a lowered floor or be able to make the standard floor work.

As others have said, Tillets, or if your on a budget one of the many Tillet-a-likes.

I had some MK Sportcars seats in my old Westfield. With correct mounting I got was sat ~2mm plus the thickness of the GRP off the floor. Supremely comfortable as well, even without padding.

Ok - I hear you.. So I can go just as low with the tillets and a set like these can be mounted directly to the floor?

How is it done?

I did the test without the seat and with the higher FIA roll bar, which is still out of stock at caterhamparts, it will be ok, I think.... Optimum however was to have the lowered floor as well, but it is ALSO out of stock from Caterham !! Anywhere else I can get a lowered floor and the FIA roll bar???

If you fit with your arse on the floor then try a bag seat

They cost almost feck all and are very very comfortable.

I bought a car where not only did my arse match the previous owner but he had had it covered and it was very comfy

That looks great, but badly needs some head restraints fitted.
