Just finished the rally of the tests in the good old Healey. A very tough three days and extremely hard on the car and navigator, but what a tremendous buzz at the end. Highly recommended as a test of man and machine. The back up from the mechanics was second to none. They can fix anything anywhere and will make sure you get to the end if it kills them. One of if not the toughest events. Loved it. Off to assist in draining the hotel bar along with fellow survivors.
She is a 1961 car, one of the triple carb models that were only produced for a year. Car is a faithful replica of the works cars of that year. I had to remove the third spotlight, the "Lucas flamethrower"to comply with regulations for the event. The event itself is a combination of public roads , special stages on forest tracks, tests at various locations and is held over three days. This year the first day was Buxton to Central Wales via a series of stages. Second day a circuit round the Brecon Beacons, Cambrian mountains etc via more special, stages. Final day was Wales to Bristol. It involves a good ten hours a day of hard driving and will find any cracks in either the cars armour or your own.
Think you might appear on here too Russ.

That is indeed me. In case you are wondering what I am saying to the camera it was along the lines of not hitting the cone and it's on camera so no penalties please! That was our second pass, given that I was on road tires it was like an ice rink. I was sporting Avons in the deluded belief that the majority of the event would be on Tarmac and was hedging my bets based on that. Wrong! Next year it will be mud/snow tires because the off road sections are too intense to handle on road tyres. Great crack nonetheless. Do it. You know you want to.

I did do it Russ, Car 70 Mini Cooper S, that was me navigating in the 'in car'shot. They put a go-pro in the Car for the Prologue.
we were on road tyres too..!. Though I did know what to expect and did suggest we went for knobblies. We will be on them Next year for sure.
superb event wasn't it.
