Wanting to get a turbo need advice

Hello to all

Been getting a hankering to purchase a Volvo S60 2.0t.pretty ok as what to check etc.but could do with some advice on how to check the turbos are not borked.

Apart from obvious smoke, I think you'll need to be dismantling quite a bit of the inlet

Would that be smoke on start up.or generally smokey all the time?

End of the day Turbos are consumables - though they should last the life of the car
