Fire up the outrage bus!

Caroline Criado-Perez, the feminist and writer who campaigned for a woman to be on the £5 note, is very angry about a Mini's latest advert which markets its convertible and Countryman. The billboard asks if they want "topless" or "bootylicious".

Seems pretty harmless to me, but CCP is fuming and demanding a response from Mini for its sexist advert.

Over the top attention seeking or has she got a point?

If have said it was sexist if there was actually tits and arse on the advert...

Aren't most minis driven by women anyway?

I'd be very tempted to swap both our cars in for a Mini if they respond with "fk off" hehe

Stupid cow. If I take off my shirt, then I am both topless AND bootylicious.

Isn't the Mini predominantly bought by women anyway? (Not suggesting men shouldn't buy them, just that the only people I know with BMW Minis are female).

Someone on a crusade needs to take offence, and often the go looking for it in order to be offended.

Yep, they'll often need to court controversy in order to appear relevant and often throw crap at enough big targets that occasionally something will stick.

I tend to ignore individuals like this, regardless of their chosen "cause. "

EDIT: The advert is awfully cringworthy, but hardly offensive.

Broads like this tend to forget how stupid men are made to look in every other advert.

Do we mind?

No. We don't take it too seriously.

A lesson to learn eh poppet?

The funny thing is that by highlighting the supposed sexism - which I doubt many potential customers will find sexist - she's helping to advertise Mini!

I would have thought there are bigger, but harder targets in our society for a modem feminist to go after. But a dumb advert is a nice soft one.
Having said that Mini should not have gone down this trashy path IMHO so will have to face up to the flak.

She does a Google image search to show how misogynistic the term is, but she's got safe search switched off - as I said, she's actively trying to take offence.

ETA: This is what you get with safe search on.

It's the biggest problem facing first world women. Women in the likes of, say, Iran, have bigger problems. See all the feminists flocking to help!

It just seems a skewed set of priorities when you have things like a woman being jailed in Iran for watching a volleyball game - I do see she retweeted something but when you have things like that going on it seems a bit weird to get all indignant about an advert.

this just sums up the modern world.
in the old days if you didnt like something you didnt buy it.
now you have to be outraged and scream from the virtual rooftops(social media).
the world is full of drama queens "outraged"about nothing
