There has been some technical discussion on this on previous posts. These engines were designed in the 70's and with the lubrication available at the time. They were run in period with 20w50 mineral oil and proved very durable (the V6 was introduced specifically for high speed light commercial use in Germany where the V4 wasnt proving durable enough for vans on the autobans). The clearances, pump and filter design, cooling etc were all based on the use of a straight 20w50 mineral oil.
This was also a time of fairly regular oil changes. These engines have covered enormous distances without rebuild if the oil is changed regularly.
The product available from Eurocarparts is respected and would be appropriate for these engines. I am another owner who uses this oil. I am building a brand new engine, it will be running on this oil.

Another fan of Valvoline VR1 Racing oil here. 
It contains higher levels of ZDDP ( zinc & phosphorus ) than most modern oils, which helps to protect the valve train, and this oil seems to maintain a reassuring good oil pressure as well.
At all costs, stay away from modern "fuel saving" spec oils which have the CAFE rating* ( corporate average fuel economy ). The Cologne V6 was not designed for low viscosity stuff like that.
Better to stick with API SL/CF oils IMHO

- Nothing to do with that ace meeting place for speed freaks & petrolheads somewhere on the North Circular? Obviously I have no idea where Ace Corner, NW10 7UD, just off the A406 is located
