Different brake connectors f/r?
Discussion
Hi - been reading forum avidly since buying S3 earlier this year - now getting stuck in on my car over xmas break. Currently trying to convert flexy hoses over to Goodridge s/s braided ones. Front ones fine but when I came to do rears - they seem to have different thread on the female connectors which are fixed on the metal lines! Anyone else experience this? I'm assuming one set are metric and the other UNF but don't really know which. Are the Goodridge hose kits Metric or UNF? Whatever, looks like I'll be getting brake flaring tool to rectify the metal lines - just need to know which type of connectors to get to match the s/s hoses? Appreciate any advice...thanks
Forgot to add - noticed that the flexy hose connection to the front caliper was double flared (ie concave ended) meaning there must be a convex fitting hidden inside the caliper connection. None of the replacement s/s braided hoses connectors were double flared - all 6 (4 for front, 2 for rear) had convex ends. They obviously fit into the caliper but are they secure? Or have I got a duff braided hose kit? (Goodridge pack from Peninsula TVR).
For those who are interested....rear brake lines had UNF female unions on them! Got some short 'converters' made up with male UNF connectors on one end and female Metric connector on the other end. The Goodridge set is all Metric unions. Still concerned about the connections into the calipers - Peninsula said that 'it's fine to use the conncetions supplied'. Anyone been using the standard Goodridge set for a while?
