Induction Kits

Looking to fit an Induction Kit to my standard S1 Elise - which one(s)do you recommend, I have heard the Hurricane is good?

Depends what you want. If you want good sound, reasonable price and good performance hike then by all accounts the hurricane is great.
K+N 57i is ideal for making the car loud on a budget
but does nothing for performance.

I currently have K+N but will someday upgrade to Hurricane.

I have one fitted like the hurricane but made out of carbon fibre, We have seen gains of up to 8bhp but more importantly up to 13lbft in mid range.

It is a full kit consisting of brackets 75mm hose attachments ect ect also in carbon fibre it looks fantastic.

Pipercross also developed the exige filter and airbox on the 190.


Have a look and give me your thoughts?

Just re-read my previous post, My bad grammer makes it look like the brackets were in carbon, the not all the brackets are in powder coated ali.

It would be like the hurricane but in carbon, the hurricane is made of ali which is a conductor of heat un-like carbon the deflects the heat.

The price is the one problem......£250.00 this is because of the carbon fiber and ali ram pipes,

The noise is good, quite quiet at low revs but a good growl over 4500rpm

I have mine fitted with a 75mm pipe down to the side air vent with a large 80mm red ali rampie, looks really good.

clearly it is vital to the performance that they are made of carbon fibre

Choices are

Raceline - £130 ish
Hurricane - 110 ish
ITG - 280 ish
home made - £10 ish

8bh ish way way optomistic - on its own you might get 1 - 2bhp - but then rolling roads can't really measure induction kits - can they :0

You are correct, rolling roads are often inaccurate, As i have tested this filter you can see when the gains come from, the standard air box is restricted by a small 50mm opening, with then a paper eliment, Viper kit is a very un-restrictive filter, reverse flow eliment and has a 75mm intake pipe. This flows over 300cfm with no major problems.

Gains of 6-8 bhp are often seen, but the mid range torque is the main point.

You say tounge in cheeak carbon is important, i belive it is, if you have an aluminium filter cover this absorbes the heat(have you felt a hurricane filter after a long run) carbon deflects the heat making the internal tempreture of the filter a lot cooler.
