Hi all, need a new fuel filler cap, used 2 tanks over the weekend and covered 800 miles then realised when I got home the filler cap wasnt locking, seems it doesn't want to engage, any places you know of to get a replacement ?

You mean the bolt on the flap isn't being shot by the solenoid, or that the cap with the ratchet itself isn't sealing the tank?

Filler cap, the flap is fine Ian.

I'd be interested to hear your results as I opened mine yesterday and it came staight off without undoing. Hopefully I somehow didn't do it up properly, but if not it may be the same problem as you... frown

Does it spin round without locking? Try superglue on the part that shouldn't spin round - that happened on mine - still fine 3 years later.

If I turn the white part by hand while holding the black cap it still clicks like it has engaged but when in the neck of the tank it just clicks and doesnt want to engage.

Ill try the glue but Ill still change it over.

Have a look at this: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Its the white part that needs gluing to the black bit you hold.

Mine wasn't screwing tight a while ago, and I bought a generic lockable one which fits fine. Can't remember if I got it from halfrauds or a local motor factors. Didn't cost too much and was a quick repair. This is on a monaro if it makes any difference.. smile

If this is for a Monaro I had to replace mine recently as I couldn't get the thing open at one point it just kept spinning around. I bought a replacement from Monkfish works fine now.

Cheers guys, sorry its a VXR8.

Havent called anyone today nor have i tried the glue, had a more pressing day with the HSE on site and police and other emergency services due to a guy on site being seriously injured by a 10ton excavator.

Will make some calls tomorrow.
