Hi guys,

I picked up a second hand Honda from my local Honda main dealer on saturday. During the sales patter the salesman said that the car will be serviced if it needs it before sale. Its got full dealer history but looking at the sevice book after picking it up (Doh) it was last serviced 03/2013 @ 33k its now on 40k and in my eyes its due a service to keep its annual service record up to date. The next service as far as mileage goes should be at 45k with a transmission fluid change. I am going to approach the dealer about it monday as its already had to be booked back in for a couple of other small issues, namely steering wheel off centre after tracking carried out by them and 4 of the 6 interior speakers are completely dead. I think the front PDC are not working either!

I just wanted to know if you guys thought i was right to ask for it to be serviced or not?

Cheers

Jon.

I would just check if service should be every 12 or 24 months before arguing with your dealer.

Tecnically it isn't due a service for 4 months or 5k; assuming 12m intervals, I'm sure it would have had some kind of used car PDI and a lights and levels check.

No, last serviced in 2013.

If it's 12 months or x miles, which I think it probably is, then it's 6 months overdue. Dealer should service that.

Sorry, getting my years mixed up, I ready 2013 as 2014.

It may have been serviced and just not stamped.

Some Hondas are on variable servicing - what does the cluster say in terms of next service due?

The servicing interval will be 12 months or x,000 miles, which ever comes first. So the service was due in March 2014, and this hasn't got FSH.

What model and year is it? Have a look in the handbook. On wife's Jazz it's some combination of the buttons on the steering wheel - maybe just pressing the 'info' button is enough, can't remember offhand.

Having said that, although it's supposed to be variable (SvRS), it still seems to call for service every 12 months (our car doesn't do a lot of miles). I heard they were having trouble on some models with it coming up very early.
