Now that the cerb is happily in the garage , could anyone recommend a trickle charger to use? Can you use any one or before I buy something useless does the cerb need one a little better than average?
Thanks
Also I believe my nearest tvr garage is Taylor tvr , does anyone around use them ? I'll need to get my outriggers looked at soon , they're solid but with a little surface rust and flakeing in small places so wondered what processes could be done , apart from a body off ! Just some tlc

I use an Accumate through the fag lighter. Have done for 6+ years without issue, during which time it has never been unplugged from the wall socket. Must say something about the reliability, but conventional wisdom is that any old cheapo trickle charger will do the job.

Can't really beat the convenience of the cigarette lighter socket. Provided its screwed up tight and rear terminals properly attached you can ignore the horror stories imo.

On a side note about trickle chargers, don't forget to take it out before jumping in the car and driving off like I did a week ago whistle

You can use a trickle-charger up to 7 amps with the battery still connected to the car, I use a 4 amp one,any more than this could cause problems unless the battery is disconnected.

I have used a trickle charger from halfords for the last five years without issue, having said that I only need to use it if the car is left for over a month or so. Up to a month and I just leave it and never had a starting issue.

I use a CTEK plugged into a spare socket on the relay board via the flying lead and connector. As above remember to unplug it before driving off.

I use a cheapo charger and a timer socket. It switches on for a couple of hours each week. I already had the charger and the timer socket was a fiver. Cheap solution and has worked for years.

CTEKs for me - we've got several and they've all put in good service - but check out the Aldi ones (£15 vs £70 and look uncannily similar!)

Accumate for me too. Mine must be well over 10 years old and not a problem. Through the fag lighter.

Ctek mxs 5 connected onto battery and negative onto aircon lug.
This is shared between five cars at times, depends which one is in the other garage. I am contemplating buying a second MXS 5 as one car is always at my mums house ( too few garages)
No problems with this charger, good for reconditioning tired battery's too.

Likewise on the Cerb and numerous motorbikes and large capacity boat battery connected via socket or crock clips.

Just about to buy an accurate with cigarette adaptor , but, can you still close the car door with a power lead running in?
I read another post who said he hard wires a connector to the battery with a cigarette connector with a waterproof cap that sits somewhere near the battery and tucks away when not in use?
Thanks

Yep you can close the door. The cable is fine pushed into the seal as window closes. I leave window open a bit so as to let air flow through cabin anyway.

Ive just used mine today as one of the nippers left the interior light on last night and it was dead this afternoon. Managed to pull the whole socket out when I removed the charger, how the sodding hell do you get behind there to tighten it all up again?
