DB9 issues. Battery related?
Discussion
I've been getting the error message "Gear Shift Paddles Disabled" a couple of times recently, and it doesn't reset by just turning ignition off and on (which seems to work for others who've posted with a similar problem) but seems to go the next day . I've also got the tyre system warning message, which was triggered when I didn't quite slow down enough for a speed bump......
I've just come back from 10 days away, and car wouldn't start. Managed to jump start easily enough, but instantly had a warning about emission system needing a service, followed by the paddle shifters again being disabled.
Is it likely that these two error messages are down to low voltage from the battery?
Any advice would be gratefully received!

Could be. Car should be OK for 10 days of standing without a trickle charge. So I would suspect the battery needs replacing. Low voltage does cause all sorts of electrical gremlins and spurious errors.
Replace battery first. However, if you get a low tyre pressure warning after hitting a speed bump you may actually have a slow puncture.

Thanks for your comments. The tyre warning came on at exactly the same time as I hit the bump, so don't think that would be a slow puncture. Replace battery first. However, if you get a low tyre pressure warning after hitting a speed bump you may actually have a slow puncture.
Looks like another trip back to the dealers for the battery......
You should not need a dealer to replace the battery unless you hope to get it replaced under warranty. You can just drop in an "019" spec battery. I use a gel type AGM battery as they have excellent deep cycle recovery characteristics and they can never leak.
They are also very powerful and ideal for cars with less than regular use.
I use the Duracell AGM92, not cheap, but an awesome piece of kit. If you are looking for a cheaper option, then any major brand "019" will fit nicely. You should be able to install it in well under 30 minutes all in.

My problem is the car gets plenty of use (daily driver) but living in Guernsey means the journeys are generally pretty short. They are also very powerful and ideal for cars with less than regular use.

EDIT: And thanks for the battery info.
Got the car back yesterday. Garage tested the battery and said it was still good, so gave it a full charge and reset everything bar the tyre system warning. They reckon that needs some new sensors and are pricing this up.
I'm not sure I fully believe them about the battery, but to be fair it all seems to be fine now. I'm also going to get a trickle charger asap!
