Got my blue 41mm auto Longines Hydroconquest just a few weeks ago from Richard Sinton jewellers in Newcastle and more than happy with it, however I've just noticed that the crown seems to stick out a bit, say 2-3mm and I can see a screw thread underneath.

It works fine with the positions otherwise but just doesn't look right? - any thoughts if this is a problem?

(sorry for lack of photos)

(Is it possible, perhaps, that you haven't screwed down the, er, screw-down crown?) Forget I said that.

No, fair comment, I've heard about screw-down crowns but if I screw it clockwise there is some resistance and anti-clockwise there is very little resistance - either way it doesn't move any futher in or out??

Looking at Tobinens, mines definitely sticking out.

Sorted it, shame there was nothing in the 100000 page manual about it.

Apologies for being clueless..........
