I've been having a spot of trouble with my rack...

...and pannier combination.
Basically I'm fed up of this tropical island paradise and the sweaty back one gets when using a pack. So I found a granny bike rack in the shed and bought a set of pannier bags thinking this would be a solution.
There are no sown on straps to secure any of the bags to the rack itself. Nowhere to loop Velcro or Bungee straps through. Given the state of the roads I use on my commute and the complete lack of due care and attention other road users provide there is no way gravity and a quartet of plastic hooks will be enough to hold the bag in place.
Any ideas or should I throw it in the bin and go back to the drawing board?

Personally I don't think it's possible to damage the relationship between cyclist and drivers any more than it already is. Considering the most popular of the recent clips has only had 552 views in a month I'm sure I've single handedly tipped the balance for everyone. For that I am truly sorry.
