'porsche' stickers on or off........
Discussion
Sorry folks, I am still on about my 'project' 944. Please feel free to nod off....
General consensus of opinion please (thanks for those still reading).
My project is coming along nicely, I have a question. The lower sills have a stuck on P O R S C H E from front to back wheels at sill level. The car is grey (on my profile) and lettering is black. It doesn't look too bad and is as subtle as 4" stickers can be but I am really undecided as to whether it should stay on, or should I hairdryer it off.
Does it look a bit naff nowadays, or in keeping with the car? I don't normally like stick on bits and bobs, or having "Porsche" plastering everything as it is quite obvious what it is.
Just a thought, on or off?
Thanks folks, I am off to tinker now....

Well its original, so persoanlly I would keep it. But then that's just me. They came in 2 colours: black and white (as on mine). You could fit a white one, which perhaps would be more subtle? Or it might look rubbish.
Remember you cannot disguise its an 80s car- I like that fact

I've always assumed that the 'between the wheels' Porsche stickers aren't standard and, spurred by this post, I've just confirmed that by checking in my PET spares list. This confirms no such sticker listed for any 1987 European or American 944. The only standard 'insignia', as Porsche describe them, are the ones on the rear (Porsche and one of 944, 944S or Turbo) and on the front wings (CS/ClubSport or Turbo).
My personal view is that the sill stickers look naff so if it were my car they'd have gone by now!
Just my 2p,
Guy.

It's an absolute corker Matt, 107k, full leather, 'spotters' porsche club gb sticker, new tyres, marvellous.
Cat c due to bumper/rad damage, now all sorted. Other than that, not even a parking dink on it.
Absolute bargain, picked it up at a traders salvage auction, couldnt believe my luck.
My intention is to use it sparingly and make it a bit lairier for trackdays.

Bit late, but I recon keep them on, for the same reason that I keep the ones on the Quattro.
That was how they were designed, it looked good at the time, and it's only changing tastes that now make them look "naff" (as our learned friend put it).
Keep them! It shows it's "original" to people that know.

Quattro Always wanted a UR model, excellent cars. I think you are right Joust, the stickers look as if they have been on the car from new...
You can see mine at www.chipmunk.org.uk/quattro/

That's a nice one indeed. And I agree, the audi rings work on yours.
Although looking at those old pictures you notice how "jacked up" it looks!
Since I had to replace the springs, and Audi didn't do the originals any more, it looks a darn sight better...
