Hi Guys,

Just had to fix my headlamp candles, turned out to be crusty control box plug, as per..

But looking at the headlamp its a standard 7" headlamp is it not, such as classic Rage Rover etc...

What about a flat lens job like this?
I know the Lupo lamps are out there but that involves cutting and other nonsense!

Interesting re the LED's. They are chuffing bright. I removed the HID lights from my (tuscan lights) cerb as I was sick of being flashed. I know what its like to be blinded by HID lights (and I dont think its adjustments - if you are going up hill and a car with HIDs is coming down then they do create some issues imho) and so whilst I like the idea of retro fit LEDs I dont think they are fair on other road users.
Decent standard bulbs and good condition reflectors and all is fine IMHO.

You could try Kell Trucks in West Brom? They are a Scania dealer and the old style reflectors are the same as those fitted to them.
This is the old Bosch part number which I think was discontinued. So they may have alternatives etc?

Trouble is the Truck they fitted would have long since gone so guess there would be no need for replacement.
I have just supplied Chimpongas with alternative plus they have been redrilled to give correct beam as the old 1 305 314 930 part

Yes, those currently are not drilled but could be. it was more about checking how much damage if any would be caused to the plated surface.

I'd be up for some redrilled reflectors, do you have the "adjustment" kit too? (Aka crappy wing nut things)

I think I'll try the LED's but with a proper adjustment first so avoid dazzling!

Not sure the headlamps will adjust such that you will avoid glare.

Barry if there is no rush it may be better to wait and see how Dave (chimpongas) gets on with the LED's and new reflectors.

Those lights look lot like Raybrig lights, that folks used to put in mx5/eunos. They were a good upgrade.

For other more traditional 7 inch units seek out some Cibie H180, with nightbreaker bulbs - this is the upgrade of choice in the Morgan world, they are also pretty effective, and probably cheaper than the wipacs in the link

...has anybody ever tried the 7" headlamp LED conversions by J.W.Speaker or Nolden offered originally for Landrover Defenders?

Is the cerb light a separate glass and reflector which means sealed units require bodywork cutting to fit?

I see rpm technik offer an led conversion for older 911s. But it's well North of a grand.

Interesting as it is shown behind clear and beam patterned glass.

I like the idea of Brummie. Has it been done before?

First you would need to find a similar setup with the side light set back like the original bosch lens, other wise you would need to rip it all out just to change the side light lamp.
