Does any one know much about these? Just been told I've had a benign one excised and on reading google it makes for some scary reading. What is the likelihood of these returning and becoming cancerous? and if it does reoccur is the treatment really a mastectomy??

From what I have heard, it is very very unusual for one to return after excision.

Speak to your consultant, but if it was me that it had happened to, I wouldn't be worried about it.

Thanks, i couldn't understand a word that the consultant said and had to wait until i was out of the room and ask the nurse. I guess i should just see what happens and deal with it if it does occur.

Why don't you phone the secretary and see if you can have a chat with the consultant/registrar/breast care nurse to put your mind at rest? I'm almost certain that they wouldn't mind. Or speak to your GP and they can walk you through it.

If you were a patient where I work then we would do it happily as people understand that not everyone knows the ins and outs as the whole of society aren't specialists. We get queries like this by the handful each day.

Don't let it worry you, ask a professional so you can put it to rest.
