Yoko AO48r versus AO32r

Does anyone here have any experience on which one's the best tyre wet or dry for my Westfield race car.

This year we have the choice of AO48r in M compound and the 32r in S which I've used before.
Tyre size is 180x60 x 13"wheels.

I assume this is with 750MC as they've changed the hot hatch regs to the same.

Talk to polley motorsport as from memory the M 048R isn't as hard as the M 032R, not sure if it is as soft as the S 032R though, can you use SS 032R?

Having driven on 032R in Hot Hatch and having used 048R on my Noble I'd say the water clearing ability of the 032R seemed better but as you know it is difficult to compare with different cars and sizes and days etc.

Yes it is for the 750mc.
Surprised you think the 48 might be worse in the wet, I suspected it would be better as the 32r is shocking in the wet.
Unfortunatley we can only use the s compound in the 32 and definitely no buffing off the second s

I was hoping the 48 would be better in all conditions but it seems I'll have to get both in case which is a pain as two years ago you could use the excellent Avon CR28 sports in the wet and the 32's in the dry.

Then they went to the single control tyre 32r to reduce costs even though everyone had just spent £500 plus on Avons and wheels so everyone sells them and now we have to buy 48's as well.

In the meantime plenty of cars were crashed in the wet on the AO32r's which may not have been had we been allowed to run decent wets.

Oh well, at least i'll have fun testing them both.

I use the SS 032Rs- not exactly any good in the wet

The 048R is fine in the wet, but if you hit any standing water you aquaplane immeadiately. As I say the comparison between the 2 isn't that vaid as I tried 032R in a 185/55/15 fitment (from memory) and the 048R in 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 on different cars. Also the 048R is only avaliable in MH compound for 18 inch wheels so my tyres won't be as sticky as the m compound.
