I always find it surprising as to where certain historically important cars turn up now and again.

Take this 1969 TVR S2 Vixen. This was the factory demonstrator back in its day and the road test car for Autocar magazine (26 June 1969)

I was reading this Months copy of Classic and Sports car and this car was listed as "Readers find of the month"
It appears that the car was kept outside under a tarp for the last 20 years and the paintwork has now suffered badly as a result.
It does look a little sorry for itself in a very recent picture but the new owner is intending to carry out a full restoration of the car so hopefully it will be brought back to its former glory. I wonder if he will restore it back to its original condition or carry out a few modifications along the way? Still it is nice to see that these cars still survive after all these years.

Here is a picture of it back in 1969. I wouldn't like those high heels on my bonnet but looking at the girl wearing them I could probably overlook this minor detail. wink Does anyone still have clothes like that in their wardrobe today?

Matt has said that he intends to restore the car to as near original condition as he can. He has already restored a Vixen and I'm sure he will do a great job.

How about you posting a photo or two of your own Vixen 2500 Steve. I'm sure that many of us on this forum would love see a few shots of your car?

LOL.... I am no expert at all on TVRs and only recently bought my first TVR. I have a LOT to learn about these particular cars.
I think you should be asking others on here for advice and definitely not me.

Up until 6 months ago I had owned several classic Porsche 911s and over the many years of owning these cars I gained a lot of valuable information from others at meetings and on various forums etc.

Good luck in your search for a car I am sure you will find the right one for you.

My car wasn't advertised for sale anywhere at all. I placed a wanted ad for a Vixen and the owner of this car replied to my ad saying that he was considering selling his car, which was very kind of him and very lucky for me.

You have to remember that not everyone who owns a TVR looks on here in fact a lot of owners probably never have anything to do with forums but may belong to clubs and gain information about their cars that way. My wanted ad was placed elsewhere and I got a result.

What condition was it in and have you had to do much to it so many look like they need a lot of work but still ask very high prices

OFR will be restored to close to original condition, certainly from the outside. I have located one low back seat so far, need another one!
The engine as stated in C&S isn't original, but has been with the car for nearly half it's life so will stay, particularly as it now starts and shows good compression. If the engine had been missing or beyond repair then I would have put an original 1600 back in it.

I few sensible mods will be added such as new wiring, fuse box. The chassis looks in good condition, but until I lift the body and have a good look it's hard to tell. Will document the rebuild process and post a few updates on here.

I see that picture is appearing all over the place, there is a company selling posters of it and you can now get a business card case with the same picture on the front.
Curious what the copyright of that image is as comments on a previous thread said the picture first appeared in a magazine and identified the original photographer.

Just to put the record straight, with regards to the original posters comments, I bought OFR4G as a box of bits, around 1992, at the time it was wanted both in Europe and by David Gerald, I rebuilt it, updating both suspension, engine and body work, it did reside under a tarpaulin, but not for 20 years. Despite best intentions I never got round to repairing a MOT failure about 10 years ago, I briefly discussed selling with Matt last year, just after he had bought another Vixen. We then discussed it again this year, ending up in it being sold to Matt, who I know from his history will carry out a great job. It could have disappeared into Europe years ago, but I was determined that it should stay in the UK. I look forward to the finished restoration.

Is that the injected one? I'd love to see some pics and read about the car. I'm rubbish at interweb searches and haven't managed to find anything on the car.
