Hi,

I have a birthday coming soon and have my eyes on a Tag Heuer Watch. I know it's not everyone's brand of choice etc but I like it and hopefully can get it with a decent discount.

Looking for this watch:

http://www.houseofwatches.co.uk/tag-heuer-mens-car...

I am traveling in Februrary/March next year to Langkawi/Kuala Lumpar/Aus/NZ/Bali and wondered was there a benefit in buying from an AD abroad or a Tag Heuer at Airport etc. If I get a bigger discount away do I lose warranty etc.

I am niave to this so would appreciate any help.

I'm sure that part of the world will have a large array of 100% real, genuine replicas offered at huge discounts.

I imagine there will be some 100% real replicas. Saw streets of them in Bangkok and Singapore earlier this year.

Buying from an AD or Tag Heuer Shop? (Two in KL and one in Lamgkawi) would these be fake?

Just buy within the EU – https://www.chrono24.com/en/tagheuer/carrera-calib...

Or if you prefer a German dealer – https://www.chrono24.com/en/tagheuer/calibre-1887-...

Whilst a well regarded and recommended grey dealer, I think they need to sharpen their pencil quite a bit – https://www.chrono24.com/en/tagheuer/carrera-1887-...

Thanks PJS

I had previously seen the iconic watch price but not the Italian dealer. Was just the advantage of doing it face to face whilst abroad (peace of mind) but perhaps as you say better to buy from within EU (imagine use a CC for further peace of mind)

What do you consider as "decent"? I bought a Monaco 6 months ago from a non-airport Goldsmiths - had wanted one for a while, walked in and tried it. Asked for their best price, got 10% off - offered a price rounded down to the nearest £100 and I paid there and then. All told about 12% just for asking.

The PH afficionados will no doubt tell me that I've failed on a number of counts as no-one buys from Goldsmiths daahling, Monaco's are crap, and I only got 12%... but I was happy.

Bicester Village outlet place has a TAG store that used to have very good prices, though I've not been there for a year or more.

Years ago I bought a Tag from the AD in the Petronas towers in KL - I found the price to be much cheaper than anywhere else...

On that same trip I decided not to buy the £300 Daytona that was offered to me in the street outside the towers. To my eyes it looked real, certainly good quality, but no doubt fake or at very least stolen.

Ignoring Mr Gould, whose love of TAG is well known round here... I got mine from Preston and Duckworth in Bury St Eds. Very nice people to deal with and I got a price I was more than happy with, think it was no VAT as a starting point.

Just back from a weekend in Amsterdam so heads a little in the haze.

Presumed a few judgemental comments would be forthcoming but surprised at the lack of them. Maybe the advertising has worked.

Will have an email round and will try and contact the Petronas tower tag shop

Hi
I bought a Tag Heur Monaco from of all places Dubai Airport Duty Free.
My wife and I had been in Dubai for a couple of weeks and even though I had been looking at the watches in the Malls (Discounts available) I had not seen anything that "caught my eye" at that moment.
My wife whilst wandering around the duty free had just said "was I disappointed about not having bought a watch" when I saw the Tag Monaco and it just spoke to me. Tried it on 3 times and walked away twice but eventually just bought it. I was convinced the watch was priced incorrectly as it was a very large discount of the UK retail.
So I was happy

There are several Tag outlet stores dotted around the country - might be worth a look.

I purchased a Carrera from a local dealer in Bournemouth who were only too happy to do a deal.

Now, I have a Carrera wv211b which I really like, so I feel I can comment. You'd have to be nuts to spend 4 grand on a Tag, surely. When I saw the design I thought 'looks well' and expected to see a price around £1750. Is that what they are now?

Anyway, a slightly more helpful post forthcoming. I bought my Carrera mail order from Prestige Time in the US back in 2008. I put your model in and here it is:

http://www.prestigetime.com/item/Tag-Heuer/Carrera...

3800 bucks which works out at 2.4k. Figure in import duty at 20% I think and it comes in at £2880 which is a saving of about 31%?

Don't get me started........Seiko £100 watches are better made and more reliable......so apparently you can polish a turd if you put enough spin on it ! Somebody will buy it

Thanks again for the comments and yes the price of tags has been going up. Was tempted but couldn't justify a few years back and in hindsight should have.

Additional thanks for the real world experiences as it gives me a bit of a better understanding. I think I will ship around in the UK via email (I live in an island so can't just drive to outlets) and then go on holiday with one eye on the AD and airport and a figure in the back of my head from emailing around.
