can anyone help me out! I ordered a valve spring compressor for doing my springs in place on my LS2 vxr8, it should have arrived by now but I've just been told it wont arrive until Tuesday now. it's not the fault of the person who I ordered it from as it's out of his control as well. my problem is I've installed the cam and just got the valve springs to replace now, I need to do this tomorrow as the car is booked to be mapped on Tuesday so I'm really tight for time! can anyone let me borrow a valve spring compressor that will let me do the springs in place? I will post it back on Monday and pay for all the postage if someone can pop one in the post first class today so I can get this done tomorrow. any help would be hugely appreciated.

Didn't GSD help someone out, a couple of weeks ago (without lending out the one that he had borrowed)? Not sure if he's got a stock of them....

yeah, that was me, he ordered me one but it got held up at customs, not his fault at all and I will still be buying the one I ordered from him, just it wont arrive in time.

I'm pretty sure Gareth did something clever to negate the need for them, or was it the valve magnets?

Get onto FB and go to the hsv page then speak to Michael Clark he might be able to offer a suggestion. Where are you based?

Worth calling local HkS hire shop or similar?

Or don't Halfrauds etc sell them? Not the most exotic of tools?

I think I rescued one from my dads garage but I can't really remember and I am currently in a taxi. Will be back home in Glasgow later and can look - where are you in Scotland?

I can get a generic puller easy enough for if the heads were off. but cant find anything that can be used for heads in place.

Is that not for if the heads are removed. I'm leaving heads in place and using compressed air to keep the valves up.

I thought you could do this by rotating the engine to the point that the piston was high enough to press the valve down on. Not sure if it'll work with this engine, though...
