finally gotta part with my cerb
Discussion
not sure if this allowed or not guys so my apologies if not!
ive finally got to sell my tvr as I have a gtr35 I bought a couple years back and the cerb just doesn't get used any more plus im opening up a 4wd dyno centre so could do with the funds for the arriving dyno and all that goes with it.
I wont go into detail as the ad on ph tells you most of what you need to know but the old skool guys on here will probably remember me and know the car has a newbuild engine by one of the top guys on these cars being andy at apm and its not yet quite run in but been faultless
hope the rest of you are all good and playing nicely, not had the chance to get on here much as of late.
I would like to say that one day il be back but if im honest I doubt it, ive always really been into jap crap and cant seem to get away from it but at least ive had the pleasure of owning one of these cars now as I always wanted one since being a nipper so my dreams been fulfilled

the car owes me over 17k now and done less than a 1,000k since owning her but last time I looked they were going for around 10-12k so I based it on the top end of that pricing seeing as it has a new ajp lump :/
andy checked the chassis when he dropped the lump and said it was all good and since then its been garaged so no deterioration
I was just gonna hang onto it as one day it has to appreciate in value when others are either crashed or caught light lol but seems a waste when someone should be enjoying it. cars are to be driven in not just sat there doing nothing that's my philosophy anyways
ive also stuck a new battery on her and alternators had a recon too as was over charging
there quick little cars but after seeing one hit the main straight wall at snetterton recently in the wet 'whilst I was there with the gtr' which exploded into a million bits that reminded me that I still had one lol
just that since buying the 35 nothing else competes and that's great fun too with 700hp and traction turned off things start getting a bit hair raising even if your bald haha

no clutch wasn't done as it was all ok
they've obviously moved up in price then from when I last looked as just had a scout through others for sale
so at 12k its a dirt cheap motor for someone il just swallow my losses on it as bad time of year to flog it really
but if it doesn't sell il just put her back into garage at home and leave her tucked up until spring

Hi Pulsar, I remember when you first bought your car & yes you had some bad luck early.
I had mine up for sale last year & had it at what I thought was a reasonable price( as I assume you are ) but it attracted a few time waster's etc. So in May I advertised it at £2000 more than previously, it sold within 3 weeks at £500 more than the original asking price?! So I can only assume that if its too cheap people become suspicious?
I personally think its better to send prospective buyers loads of photo's & actually make "Live" videos for them, my reason I found this whittled out the time waster's & serious buyers came.
Good luck

Many thanks for the advice and good wishes guys much appreciated
the ad runs out on ph today I think so I wont bother renewing it and il see how I feel come next spring as things may change and I may even decide to keep her depending on how the new venture goes.
if I do come to sell it il chuck another 4k on the asking price and see how that goes with her.
As said I never had the best of starts with the old engine going pop but that's the chance you take when buying an old performance car, wasn't anything the last guy did and he couldn't have possibly known what was going to happen with the engine so just one of those things where you have to just crack on with it.
on a brighter note
does look like the little cerbs are appreciating in value now which has to be a good thing for you lads and myself included I suppose so if it does go up for sale again next year then il up the price as it does no one any good when people under value the good cars as you've pointed out
even at 15-16k there a cheap car considering what they are and dwindling in numbers every year.
Never know may even get most of my money back at some stage which would be nice
in the meantime its back in her little box for the winter lol

I agree that pricing a car cheaper than the perceived value (especially a car like a cerb which might be deemed 'risky') gives prospective buyers the idea that the seller knows something about the car that they're not letting on. Paying more for the car actually gives some buyers a better feeling about the quality of what they're buying. Ironic, maybe, but you're more likely to shift it if you emphasise the rebuild and add £4k to the price (or more
