How to trace a vehicle owner - want to buy back my old Gti
Discussion
I'm trying to find the owner of my old Mk1 Golf GTi (XRM 936Y), is there any 'legal' way of doing this? I've done the obvious - posted threads on a few VW forums (including Club GTi) but as yet I'm not having any luck.
I did post on the VWGolfMk1.Org forum last year, and a while later the owner at the time did reply (Betsy936Y), but I completely missed his post and now he doesn't seem active.
Any help is much appreciated.
EDIT: Going by his member coordinates on the VWGolfMk1.org forum it looks like he's in Wrexham, which would make sense as I did sell the car to a guy in North Wales about a million years ago.

I think you have to get a bit private detective. The DVLA have criteria for giving our personal details and sadly curiosity isn't one.
I managed to track down an old car of my father's once, but it was an old Ferrari so much easier to find as there are so few of them in general, plus only a few places that buy/sell them etc...
