If the Delorean didn't exist what vehicle would you build your time machine from?

I reckon a BMW 8 series would look awesome!

Citroën DS/SM maybe. Still today there are no cars that look like them.
Although if it is stealthiness that you are after, I would say Caterham 7 / Land Rover Defender or Mercedes G-klasse... Car produced for so long that they are already from yesterday, today, and maybe tomorrow. Time traveling machine straight from the dealer.... Doc Brown would be pissed.

Ninja edit because carp smelling.

Well, it was going to be a fridge until they got worried about potential litigation!!

V1 of the screenplay said:
The time machine resembles a refrigerator, and is powered by the "Power Converter". (This idea was cancelled because of the fear that children would act out what they saw and lock themselves inside refrigerators.)
