The new love in my life.

It all began when friend and neighbour Marcus1875 came home with his Wedge in 2012.
Many hours spent under the bonnet and under the car fixing something, oh how I laughed at "usual TVR ownership".
2013 came along and I was asked if I wanted to join him on the Rusty Nail Run in my Audi B6 S4. I was made to feel more than welcome by everyone and loved every minute of it.
To hear close on 30 TVR's in full song gave me goose bumps and no break downs, I started to have a think.
2014 came along and many more repairs on the Wedge and I started to enjoy working my way round the quirky TVR (and previous owner) build quality.
I was already planning to join the RNR this year and listen to the cars sing their chorus again. My S4 did its job and got me there and back but once I got home my mind was pretty well made up, I had to have one. Marcus tried to talk me into a Wedge but I like mine with some curves.
And so the search began, it was to be a Chimaera for me. I originally looked for a facelift 500 but I was limited by a budget and as they were few and far between my search widened to all engine specs.
And then I saw her, she was the right car at the right time and most importantly at the right price. A 1993 430. After many phone calls and messages the deposit was put down and the 400 mile trip to collect her was planned.
Marcus and myself set off in my S4 at 4.30am and after a long uneventful drive down I got my first sight of her. I fell in love. A fairly quick turn around and we set off for home again.
About 150 miles into the return journey and we had our first failure. Windscreen wipers stopped working, on the bloody Audi !!!
I wouldn't have put all the money in the world on the German being the one to break. AA called as we had no tools with us and a quick repair later we were on our way again.
Another 150 miles up the road and we have another problem, the German again, drinking oil. Topped up and we set off on the last stretch home.
Finally got home about midnight and my new love didn't miss a beat.
2 minor issues though. While stuck in traffic the temperature rose above 90 degrees but never touched the red. And the speedo seems to be running about 10 mph slower than actual road speed which will be interesting in the coming months as I must have been through a few speed cameras before it was noticed. She's going to need a few touches to bring her to my standard but I hope my love affair will continue with the help from my new TVR family.

Temp gauge - just start the car with the bonnet up and let it idle for 10 mins or so. Make sure the fan(s) are cutting in at around 90 degrees, as this could be your problem if the overheating was in traffic.. If not it's most commonly a dodgy connection in the wiring below the fan itself, though it can be the temperature switch at the bottom of the swirly tank
You've lucked upon the best engine in the range... (yes I'd say that 
doesn't make it any less true, though! :P ) Enjoy!
Make sure the cooling system is in A1 order, though. A couple of leaks that weren't immediately obvious (water pump and the radiator that likes to leak into the enclosed area inside the nose cone when it goes) lead to both headgaskets gone and a subsequent very comprehensive 'once and for all' engine rebuild/upgrade...

I did what you said QBee and the fans kicked in at 90 degrees, I left it a bit longer and the needle went slightly over the 90 but sat quite calmly there.
As for the speedo, from what I can find my tyres are too big. Front 205/60/15 and back 225/55/16. I'm hoping someone can either confirm or deny this.
And do as you're told Marcus, your wife obviously has great taste
