OPC Test Drives
Discussion
Just visited the local Porsche dealer to have a look at a Cayenne S. The dealer was adamant that the only test drives possible from an OPC would be a one hour accompanied drive on their route. This obviously isn't very useful, especially when you're planning to spend £50k on something. By way of comparison, the local Land Rover dealers have always been more than happy to lend Range Rovers etc for a full day or more when they know you're not a timewaster, Subaru offered a day's drive of a 3.0 Outback without asking, and I've read on here of people being lent a Cayenne for a half day.
Is there an offical policy, or should we be trying a different dealer?

I've always offered to provide my own insurance and taken it from there.......they will look at the fact that by you going to the trouble to arrange the insurance etc you are a serious buyer and they'll be more willing to "play ball".
You can't blame them for taking a cautious approach........although I fully understand where your coming from.......it is very nice to test a car in your "usual" circumstances/surroundings.
