Today i was caught speeding in a wee village in the North of Scotland.

Just leaving the 30 is a long straight i was accelerating towards the 60mph sign and was hit with a laser gun doing 38mph.

Anyways its 3points and a £100 fine, I have a clean licence etc but cannot locate my counter part.

I've to pay it at the local sheriff court and present them with both parts of my license.

How will this work now?

Fine quadrupled for inability to spell licence. Harsh, but fair.

Pop down to the local station within the seven days (I believe it works the same in Scotland?), explain you have lost the paper part and are awaiting for a replacement. They should give you an extension.

It happens often so shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck with the extension, sounds like a perfect spot to fleece people so hopefully they'll be too busy cashing cheques this week to worry about the documentation error

The system is different in Scotland. There is no requirement to take licence into a police station within 7 days. OP will need to contact DVLA and request a replacement counterpart. Hopefully this will arrive quickly enough to allow him to comply with the COFPN, either in person at a court or by post, in the 28 days allowed. If the offer isn't complied with the matter will be reported to the PF.

It's ok, MissHighlander did a recheck for me and has found it, looking worse for wear but it'll do.

Inside the 30 on the opposite side of the road.

It was the Police Traffic BMW Estate.

That's it now paid and forgotten about so to speak.
