Want to sell some wheels - pistonheads classifieds?

Hello chaps

I've got a set of road wheels that I want to sell off [fulcrum 5]. I've noticed that the PH pedal powered classifieds are a bit err dead. This seems strange as the PP forum seems to have a lot of activity??

Does anyone here actually browse the bike parts for sale? - seems like the 'bike bits' section has also gone..

I usually sell all my old bike parts on eBay but have recently got fed up with the hassle & Fees. I'd actually prefer them to got to someone on PH but I'm not sure I'd be wasting my time.

Any other suggestions?

Honestly I never look in the classifieds here for bike stuff, singletrackworld, bike radar and road.cc are the busiest places. STW, depite beinga mtb forum, has a lot of roadiers and cx riders so I'm sure they will find a home there.

Cyclng Buy Swop & Sell group on Facebook is quite good. Ebay is still the default clearing house but comes with high fees.

I reckon a buy/sell thread on here would be handy, I have some bits I want to sell, I guess it would be against the rules though

thanks for the suggestions guys - I think the idea of a buy/swap area or 'sticky' here in the PP forum is a good idea. Seems crazy with so many cyclists on here that we all look elsewhere for parts.

Agree, Singletrackworld classifieds are busy, I only use that and ebay.

Used wheels can be a bit iffy as you are only going by the word of seller on what condition they are in. For all you know, the rims could be completely fooked and you have wasted your money.

OP: Are you sure you want to sell them? They will probabaly go for £100-£170 and at that value, maybe you could keep them as winter/training wheels.

Thanks, yes just upgraded so they are surplus to requirements.. . I had them checked at the LBS and they are spot on true etc. I wouldn't sell junk

I will probably end up selling them on STW as suggested or ebay. Just wanted to know if the PH classifieds is worth a punt! turns out all the cyclists here look elsewhere. I found just 3x bikes for sale in the classifieds on PH.

I have sold tons of my bike stuff on Ebay and wondered if there was another way hence my original post.

Maybe a sticky 'for sale' thread in the Pedal Powered forum is the way to reach fellow PH cyclists..

^^indeed. Who or how do we get something going? it could always be a tester to see how many people use it.
