Fair 'Winter Price' for 997.1 Carrera

Base Carrera (not the 'S'). Helping a colleague out. Could you give me an idea of what a reasonable Winter price would be to pay both from a dealer and privately. Assume a mileage range of between 45,000 - 65,000 and in a sensible colour and interior leather colour and in decent/reasonable condition. Thanks.

yes there is one compelling reason. Porsche made some internal mechanical revisions from model year 2006 onwards. I would go for a later car unless the spec on an earlier car was fantastic.

These were heading to 20ish the last time I looked. Are they still heading south or have they stabilised?

OK thanks. So that's MY06 onwards. Is there a specific cut-off date or reg number to ensure it falls the right side of this?

An acquaintance around 6 months ago purchased an early 997 S with 80k miles for just over £20k

Not sure there is much if a winter price for these cars though stumbling across a private seller who is keen to sell before the depths of winter might mean you can go in a bit lower

In terms of price from a dealer,there is quite a range from low 22ish to nearly 30s, even for a car in the mileage range you suggest depending on model, spec, condition and year. A site like 911 virgin ought to give you a good feel, or even better give them call. I'd expect the price price for the same car to be 2-3k less

23k private and 28k good dealer with warranty etc.

By the way, these prices do not guarantee a good car, you still have to check them carefully! I would be doing a boroscope check too.

Think these are top prices for a non S gen 1. More like 18-22k private depending on mileage/spec/condition
and 20-25k for dealer cars, there are so many variables though its difficult to pinpoint a price.

OK thanks all for your input. It does seem like there is potentially quite a variance (even without factoring in how heavily optioned a car is).

There is a 2004 3.8 S with 57k just been advertised by Arnold Clark dealer for just under 20k, could be a good buy???

Edited to say just noticed it's tiptronic, not for me then!!

They do appear, there was a 997 for sale recently, with sensible amount of miles 60-80k going for 17-19k recently. Didn't stay around long.
