Putting my name on the car 'metaphorically' means that I, er, don't get my name on the car? £200? bargain!

Are people really pissed off? Did anyone expect him to hold the record forever?

If he and his followers cannot afford to do it himself, why should we pay for him to do and hold a record? First world problems.

This thread doesn't make any sense.

Its a bit like the Caterham crowdfunding attempt (sell a load of old tat for inflated prices).

I'm oot smile

Good luck with the record attempt though.

Edit - p.s. No mention of this £100 or £200 name on car deal on either Facebook sites or their website. Is this a scam??

You may have all read just recently that Larry Larson (USA) has just taken Andy Frosts title away from him with a mind blowing Street Legal 6.16s at 219mph. So you can believe that Andy and many of his followers are a bit pissed off.

Andy and his followers have put out an impassioned plea for help and support to wrestle the title back and help develop a 5s car. But he needs our help.

If you are interested to support Andy and his team with a donation, £100 or £200 will put your name (metaphorically) on a part of the car. Companys are supporting Andy together with car clubs and groups so how about the Piston Heads doing its bit.

If you are interested then message Andy, friends request him or comment here to find out more.
I think Andy has said that he's not pissed off at all. He's pleased for Larry Larson, and it's not something he didn't expect to happen. The trouble Andy's got is that because Drag Racing isn't a huge sport in this country, he can't get big money sponsors, so he can't get the money he needs to get a 5 second car. Also, Andy doesn't want a 5 second car just to beat Larry Larson. He wants a 5 second car because it'll mean Red Victor 3 is more competitive in Pro Mod. It's been Andy's plan since before RV3 was born.

Andy knows how supportive PHer's are, as it was us that co-funded his engine rebuild after his engine blew up in 2011.

Throw something on Kickstarter or one of the other crowdfunding sites, do some little gifts for sponsors (stickers, photographs etc) and a sliding scale of how much you want to put in and I'd happily chip in a bit of cash. As I'm sure would many other people. From previous experiences of crowdfunding, you're much more likely to have 10 people wanting to chuck in £20 to sponsor a project rather than one person paying in £200.

I want to supercharge my M5. Can everyone please chip in £10 each?

I wish him the best of luck in regaining the record, but that is it.

If I had £100 or £200 to spend on something like that I would rather give it to a charity that will do some good with it.

The car was built with a 5 second time in mind, so it's just the things that create power that requires upgrading.

I've asked in the Drag Racing forum about the fundraising aspect, as I know Andy frequents it, so hopefully we'll find out if the team are fundraising or not.

Hi folks, and thanks to Starkicker for putting this up.
We're not forcing anyone to do anything. It's just come and have a look at our page, and decide for yourself, if i want you to..
It's a secret page on FB, not a hello we need some money page to the public.
Like Bloodhound SSC we're interested in people who want to be involved in our record attempt and quest for the 5 second zone. We're certainly not interested in a bunch of onlookers. If we were then the page would have been open to everyone.
It's a parts share scheme were people have a share in the upgraded parts. 102 people have already got their shared part. Those 102 get a certificate to say what part they have, and a founder member tee shirt free too.

If you're interested then send me a mail. If not fine. If you don't like us or the car, that is fine too. I don't like a few people either.. wink
Like i said it's a secret page, so you won't get in unless 1/ you are interested in what we want to achieve, or 2/ i invite you in..
Thanks for looking...

At last the truth appears, strange how the original post has now disappeared.

Good luck with the record.

There are plenty of very worthy causes out there.

I believe there is also room for some totally barking mad Underfunded Brit Geek schemes to show corporate funded resources a bloody nose.
