Yep and I'd wager if it is him he will keep the identity secret.

Children in need? No thanks. They have enough cash in the bank.

I turned it off, it pisses me off every year as there is no chance I can ever get to do it, why can't he have a competition to drive the cars for £5 an entry or something? the whole thing stinks of elitism, its the same for everything else on offer, the golf day was the same.

It makes a lot of money for CIN which is no bad thing but its just a whose got the biggest wallet competition.

They have the Raffle which is what £2.50/£5 per entry.

Sure its elitist but what's wrong with the Wealthy giving something more back than just taxes. Heck look at Bill Gates and Buffet giving their entire fortune away to charity

The raffle gets you to the dine and disco, not to drive the cars, the way it is means 99.9% of his listeners can in no way afford to drive the cars and it gets on my tits smile

Would appreciate if they spent the £90m they have in their accounts from previous Children In Needs before they bring out the begging bowl again.

I'm with Jazoli on this. It's not relevant to me - it's just willy waving from people with bigger wallets.

It's like the view from my desk - floating a few hundred metres away is the worlds biggest yacht. It's a (beautiful) irrelevance. Like the car drives it's totally unattainable (due to me either not working hard enough or whatever): I switch off.

Top bid was £100k, bottom bids where still being fixed as Chris Evans had handed over to Ken Bruce.

This was addressed before in SPL or elsewhere, as I would have agreed with you. It seems that there is a very valid issue as to why the money is not immediately spent, made sense at the time.

You do realise that all of that money is allocated against projects so there is a lag between the main night and go ahead with planning permissions training or widget purchasing.

Yup - conspiracy theories completely debunked. All is well with Children In Need money management.

I don't listen to Chris Evans on his Children In Need week.
Great causes, one and all but it's all very vulgar and I suspect very corporate and possibly tax-evasive.
I know not, I just know I can't bear to listen to the Hooray Henrys splashing obscene amounts of money, though I am sure they are perfectly nice people.

Not all of them are, it is great that people can afford to be so generous, its just having it rubbed in your nose all morning begins to grate, along with all the self congratulation that goes along with it.

I think the Tom Farmer and Family (former Kwik-Fit owner). I though that yesterday as he's got form as being generous to charity, and has previously bid.

Today Chris mentioned that the White Knight wears Tarten.... I think I'm right.
