hi light keeps on coming on then off on my 2007 v8 as far as I know the tyre is fine going in for a service at jct so wondering could I fit myself or is there an easy fix or will I have to mortgage the house
Why do they go wrong ?

Cheers

From what I understand, there is a battery in each sensor that eventually runs out. You need to trace down which sensor has failed - each tyre valve should carry a coloured ring that relates to the respective channel on the TPMS indicator box - under the glove box. Replacing the sensor is quite expensive (£200 odd but someone in the forum will give a better idea) and it will need to be re-programmed. Quite a few people have the system disconnected...

I don't think it's something you could do yourself without the ability to re-programme...

Anyway, my penny's worth!

Yip, each sensor has a lithium integral battery. So they have a finite life and if yours are the originals from 2007 they all could be all needing replaced.
They cost about £125 each and will involve removing the tyres, replacing each sensor and then recoding to the central unit under the glove box.

I disabled the whole system on my car rather than spend a fortune on a valve which costs 50% of the price of a tyre.

I unplugged my system even though the TPMS seemed to work ok. I prefer to check the tyre pressures the old fashion way.

The early "smart tyre" system uses specific sensors and need replacing like-for-like and then the system reprogramming. The later "beru" system (late 2009 onwards iirc) uses a much more common sensor which can simply be replaced and will self-learn, costing around 70 quid.
