It's that time of year again... The foglight crew
Discussion
So... Think this is my first PH rant...
Anyone else noticed the number of incompetent w
kers that seem to be driving around with foglights when it is dark? Not a drop of fog in the air?!
Drives me bloody insane especially when you're stuck behind them miles on end in rush hour traffic.
Oh and the one headlight crew that seem incapable of changing a dipped headlight bulb?!

If they are behind me, they get a long dose of rear fog lights as a subtle hint. If in front, they get main beam (as long as im only dazzling them). Same with those who don't dip thier beam on country roads, full beam in return until they do.
On a few occasions i've tried this, but usually these people who use foglights in the wrong circumstances tend to be the type that also say "the what" when things like rear view mirrors are mentioned
My particular rage is directed at those with fewer than 2 working headlights.
In particular the thorough and total onion that I encountered coming the other way on a dark night in Oxfordshire. Clearly there had been a considerable period of time when only 1 headlight worked. The other must have then given up the ghost and they were crawling along on sidelights at 7pm on an inlit NSL A road at c.20mph with the mother and father of all queues behind them.

Possibly even more annoying are the larger number of idiots who drive in semi-light or on lit roads with no bloody lights on at all!!
But, yes, those who don't know the protocol of foglight usage (in particular rear 'lights) really annoys me.
I see loads of these around. Often putting on sidelights when they start their journey but as it gets darker forget to dipped headlights on. But, yes, those who don't know the protocol of foglight usage (in particular rear 'lights) really annoys me.
What's the deal with people driving with just fog lights on? I'm pretty sure I've never had a car where you can turn the fog lights on without having the headlights on at the same time.
I'm at a loss as to what it signifies too. Do people just think "I know, it's not going to benefit me but today I'll drive around with my fog lights on"?

with a lot of modern cars it is not that easy to do and requires a visit to the local grease monkey (IIRC the Renaults in particular are a b
h for this)
I go to Halfords for my Audi bulbs changing. Cue "no problem" followed by 20 mins of swearing, as the 3litre lump leaves no space for access to the cluster.
h for this)Things aren't helped by local radio DJs who, when giving the morning traffic reports, mention that it's a bit misty in places across <insert city name> so "remember to get your fog lights on!".
Nnnngh. No it isn't - nowhere near sufficient for fog lights. Ignorance fuelling more ignorance.

I've mentioned this before but I suspect a lot of people driving around with no rear lights on have cars with DRLs.
As I would think that most people park with their car's nose against something (garage, another car) when they get in and switch the engine on, the DRLs come on and people are probably unaware that their rear lights don't come on aswell!

I have to because even tho my audis light bulbs are new, they are not bright and i cant really see without them. Yes new glasses too etc but unfortunately that's the way it goes
If you can't see without the use of lights that illumate the road for all of 10 foot in front of the car you probably shouldn't be driving.I had an embarrassing headlight incident last week actually. One of my Nightbreakers had failed (in only 4 months!!) so I bought some new bulbs.
Went to put one in and thought "I'll just plug the bulb into the connector and try it first to make sure it is only the bulb itself that's gone". It didn't light up when I turned on the headlights.
"B*llocks" thought I, and set off on my way.
That's when the lightbulb came on, so to speak. The earth for the bulbs is connected to the headlight cup itself. Cue much cursing and feeling very sheepish. Stopped at the first petrol station and changed it!
I can change an engine, but I can't change a lightbulb! Doh.

suppose its similar to those who drive with xenons on in pure daylight..its a bit show offy.
im not knocking it, I do it myself! haha. I guess if they can be seen they should be on. Fogs however are annoying in the dark because they are not projected or angled...so their pretty glarey!
