Hi, have just acquired a D70 and trying to use the demo Nikon capture Control software where you can take photos straight to you computer. I'm having a problem with this. The camera will mount on the desktop to download photos, but it wount see the camera to do the above. Is this because I've only got USB 1 and this is not fast enough or am I missing something? Thanks for you help in advance.

Stupid question but is the camera turned on?

I say that because the first time i tried i wasn't getting anywhere... turned the camera on and bingo!

I personally use Apple's iPhoto to download photos as its a piece of proverbial piss to use...

Any mac users (Bacardi?) know if iPhoto is fine to use? or does it lessen image quality?

Yeap, the camera is turned on, hence its mounting on the desktop. With the Capture control software you should be able to connect the camera to the Mac, and then be able to adjust the camera settings via the computer, and once you actually take a photo it goes straight to the computer rather than the memory card. But it aint working...

Hi mate, it's fine and won't affect image quality, but Cliff is talking about tethered capture. Can't help as I'm a Canon man. With Canon you need to make sure the camera is set to RAW capture, maybe it's the same with Nikon? Over to you Simpo....

Arse!
I haven't tried this - but check out pages 171-174 in the manual.
Does that solve it?
