Cayenne coolant level!

Evening folks,
I've got the dreaded coolant level message come up on my Cayenne. Its a 4.5s 2005 done 77K
It has happened twice recently and it goes out when the ignition is turned off then back on again.
The level in the header tank is good, not noticed any excessive temp rises, although the car had only done really short journeys recently and no wet spots on the garage floor.
Anyone had this before, is it a strange intermittent glitch or the sign of impeding doom?
