I have a 56 plate freelander 2 and the original battery. I have been experiencing the low battery light and tonight it wouldn't start.
I have been looking on line and some forums suggest to use only Genuine batteries.
What is the score? LR want twice as much for a genuine as a Varta for instance.
Anyone know if there is a good aftermarket with maybe an uprated spec?

The "low battery" light is usually indicative of the alternator not providing a charge to the battery.

Low battery light comes on when the car is stopped. If I sit in it for 20 mins say after stopping without lights or radio

I would think it's somewhat past it's effective date so replace with a BOSCH Silver. The S3, S4 or S5 show the warranty in years.

ECP are pretty cheap for BOSCH so look up the correct battery via your reg and pop it in.

I needed a replacement battery for an Audi last year and wanted a Varta. Cheapest I found was Alpha Batteries in Rochdale and delivery was free. Anyway I needed it quick, was working in the area so collected it myself. When I got there he offered me a genuine Land Rover battery with a small Varta label for a cheaper price, it had the same five year warranty and was no different to the other Varta stock they had. I've got nothing to do with them, but would use them again straight away.
Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link to their website?
