Can anyone help? I have just looked at an S2 Sports Tourer, 2003. I'm not sure what extra's come with the Tourer package. It has the mats and extra front speakers, but no front spots or leather door panels. Is this right, or what could be wrong?

He may be trying to sell a sports tourer with deleted items as one. If its got the bits you want I don't see a problem.

I sold a sports tourer with deleted driving lights (he thought they looked ugly) and lumbar support. Got an irate call from the buyer the next week complaining /sigh.

Thanks for that. What would it cost to add some driving lamps, would I need a new grill?

Elise Parts (www.eliseparts.com) or Hangar 111 (www.hangar111.com) should be able to source at reasonable price approx £60.00 for DIY kit. Other sites you may find usesful are www.elises.co.uk and www.seloc.com.

Whats on the door panels if its not leather?

One thing to check with driving lights is that the wiring is there. If not its a clam off job and really not worth it - you'd be better getting a car with the lights in that case if you want them.

Hi Dan, the door panels are not leather, they are a kind of plastic. The other little thing that is odd, I have seen 2002 reg S2's with a short roof and this one is 2003 and has an earlier roof with the rear fittings(if you know what I mean). Any idea when the short ones came in to production.

Not off the top of my head sure when it changed. Seems a bit odd though.

Frankly it sounds like its definitely not an ST. If its factored into the price and you are happy with it fine, but it does affect the value.

The roof seems odd to me though...

short roof came in roughly around may 02

maybe it was an old car that was simply on display for ages and not registered until 03

personally i dont see the importance of sport tourer or touring pack.
as long as it has the main bits you want like radio etc

Is it a trade or private sale?
What's the price/spec like compared to comparable models for sale elsewhere (i.e. PH & SELOC classifieds, autotrader etc)?

Incidentally if all the docs are with the car you should have the original bill of sale that came from the dealership and you can check that and bargain accordingly if you're being told porky pies (or if the person selling has their wires crossed).

At the end of the day always buy a car (no matter what) on general condition compared to the market, state of repair and (in the case of the Elise), on the basis of a good report from a qualified specialist.

It's worth to you what you're prepared to pay for it!
