Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so apologies if this is the wrong place to be posting this, but I'm hoping somebody will have some advice on the issues I'm facing.

I've recently acquired a 2010 DBS with the 6-speed Touchtronic 2 gearbox, and I'm seeing some strange behavior, namely, when I start it up, it doesn't want to come out of Park, and will display 'Gearbox Fault Reduced Function' message on the dash. Whilst it's like this, you can selected 1-3 with the paddles, but that's it - none of the centre console buttons will engage, apart from Park. The fix for this is to lock the car, and then restart! I got this from the tech at the Aston Martin garage where I get it serviced, so I was somewhat surprised to be told to 'turn it off and on again' - it's not a laptop!

I have experienced this a few times now, and I have also on one occasion, managed to get Drive to engage just by pressing all the buttons repeatedly until it suddenly kicked into life.

The only other thing that happened with the gearbox is, I was driving in heavy traffic on the motorway (speeding up/slowing down repeatedly), when it dropped from Drive into Neutral - I just pressed the Drive button and it immediately engaged and didn't present any other issues on that trip.

I'm hoping by the symptoms, that at the very most, it's a switch/wiring or battery issue, as I've heard that these switches can be very sensitive. The gearbox seems to be very responsive, whether in Drive or by using the paddles, so I'm hoping it's not mechanical!

One other thing, if I put the key in, but hold off starting the engine until all the system checks have completed and all of the ights on the dash have cleared, I'm yet to have this issue. I'll just do that for now, but if anyone has any advice, it would be most appreciated!

Thanks,

Scott.

The only time I have had similar issues is when I had a faulty brake switch which lead to irratic behaviour of the paddles shifting . I would start with doing a full battery re set first and see if that resolves it as your symptoms are slightly different to mine.

I had similar issue on mine , turned out to be a faulty piece of wiring loom from the gearbox - I believe it is a known issue .
Dealer sorted it under warranty .
