Lovely car - seems better than the SLS in every area except the gullwing doors. And frankly I would struggle with those - not least because they are a bit embarrassing to use in public.
Wish I had a spare £110k

Yes Gullwings a bit too much theatre for me!

Another positive review...

Very good reviews and if it's like an SLS, but better, then I'm going to love this car. Currently in discussions with my dealer on ordering one and what to do with the SLS.

Getting rid of another SLS? Maybe you shouldn't take your cars to AMG anymore! You don't seem to keep them for long afterwards ;p

Erm, well....ahem....I can't have both! Not made my mind up yet and I'm not mentally prepared to sell the SLS yet (and I don't say that very often!). I'm also certainly not giving the SLS away as I'm very conscious that I currently have an appreciating car (which will likely continue to do so) and the GT is only ever going to go in the opposite direction.

You guys must be mad to consider changing your sls for a GT.
AMG haven't even aimed it to be in the same market segment as the sls was. It's just going to be the next best thing and when the novelty wears off you'll be longing for an sls again. The GT doesn't have that gem of a normally aspirated engine and the iconic gull-wing doors plus the noise it makes.

Not that I can talk. I've just sold my sls (got more than I paid for it) and having tried one, am now looking for my ideal McLaren MP4-12c coupe.
The sls was a fantastic car and I enjoyed every minute of every drive. It will sure be missed.
It's been a pleasure chatting with you all and I'll keep lurking to see how you get on with your sls' and gt's.

Totally agree that from a purely market/pricing point of view, the GT does appear to be a backwards step for an SLS owner. However....

The GT is an SLS underneath....not just a bit similar etc....all the important bits ARE actually SLS. You can tell just by the looks that many of the hard points are the same - the width, windscreen angle, overall profile etc are all pure SLS. Yet it's had numerous years more development, it has a much nicer interior, the tech is up to date and the initial reports suggest it's the 'better' car to drive. Without the gullwings it's definitely not as special and it won't be as good as a long term ownership prospect. But as a car to use everyday, it's almost certain to be the more competent car.

The reason I'm considering the change is two fold, and if I'm honest I'm still not sure it's something I want to do. Firstly, I can only afford one of these cars at a time so this car is my daily drive and as such, adding mileage onto the SLS will limit any value benefits I could realise in the longer term. Secondly, regardless of the market that MB wish to put these cars in, the GT is essentially a more modern SLS and this has serious appeal to me...it has all the best bits about the SLS but brought bang up to date.

The main flaw in my argument is potentially the engine....and yes, I would miss the 6.2. However, again the early reports indicate the new Biturbo is at least as good, and some have even suggested it sounds even better.

One things for sure though...if I do swap into a GT, once the honeymoon period is over I'm certain;y going to regret selling the Gullwing.

All the best and I'm sure you'll enjoy the Macca....what did you find was the best way to sell your SLS in the end?

I advertised it on here and got a lot of interest (all trade bids bar one private guy).
