The holiday project is to clean up, pain and re-bush the front end suspension. Got everything ready for reassembly but am a bit surprised at how “snug” the wishbones are with the new Poly bushes fitted. I have struggled for nearly an hour to get one hole lined up. Is this normal or have blundered somewhere ? If it is normal does anybody have any tips for lining the parts up ?

Help please, I would like to get the job finished this week.

Thanks

Normal .... just check that the sleeves do fit between the chassis mounting brackets, as sometimes these can be very tight.

They can be a bugger to fit, but good lubrication and a screwdriver through the chassis eye to inside the sleeve to lever it into place also helps ...

They are designed to be a tight fit, the worst I ever did were the rear trailing arms on my S .... 4 hrs and nearly screaming in frustration !!

Drift the mounts out slightly with large instrument, best done before painting, I found out afterwards as usual.

A large punch is perfect for lining up the bushes, I found one the sane size as the bolts. In cold weather warming the bushes by dipping in hot water & spraying outside with silicon spray helped when easing them in to the chassis.

OK, thanks for the replies, I will carry on with the cussing and swearing out in the garage then. A lot happier knowing that it is normal, not just me being simple.
