I see Autotrader get loads of flack both from private and trade punters alike - high fees, low success rates etc.

I'm trade but not high volume so just pay-as-you-go wherever I advertise. Usually eBay, Scumtree, PH or all 3.

Tired of the texts from the "CASH NOW INNIT BRUV" types I thought I'd give Autotrader another go - granted it was for a cheapie but it sold in 36 hours for full asking with no fking around - not bad for £14 + VAT or whatever it is!

Definitely made me see them in a better light and it'll be my first port of call for the others I have in at the moment as they become ready to move on!

No problems with autotrader here I've only ever had good results from them.

Similar story as a private seller; sold the car same day on a basic listing. No hassle whatsoever.

I think it might depend partly on what you're trying to sell. I had my RX-8 on Autotrader for 3 weeks and nothing, whereas when I put it on Pistonheads Classifieds it was sold very quickly.

I've no problem with their content, it's their archaic website I dislike.

The "dealer portal" bullst is pretty awful I must say, and is broken on mobile pretty badly

Auto Trader has been a mixed bag for as a seller, but I like it as a buyer. Website layout is a little questionable, but Pistonheads classifieds is no better these days.

Auto trader app for iPhone and iPad is absolutely superb for browsing and my first port of call these days when looking for a new car.

AT has always been full of "lowest price?" / "innit" types for me.

PH has always been no messing cash buyers and full asking price achieved.

Their fees are ridiculous, and going up again.

They keep ramping them up to generate revenue so that it can be sold to the highest bidder.

I agree, when they had their magazine they offered something extra.

Now what do they offer that Ebay, PH, Gumtree can't ?
