Looking to buy a new...to me....Tuscan, maybe, (or a Griff or an XK8). And after trawling thru the ads for quite a while theres just something that I just cannot get my head around. The cat d cars that TVRGlen sells for say 12k-14k, that need around 2/3/4k of work doing and then the car will be worth mid teens and up..
How come a car worth say 15k, that sustains 2/3/4k worth of damage gets written off. OR does TVRGlen get contacted by TVR owners that have smacked their cars after getting cash for repairs and they flog it to him or.....

I am sure its simple but perhps someone can shed the light here.

DOH.

Many different issues and willnnever be the same car vs. car but...

Estimates may be parts only with no assumption for labour and a crap paint job
Only initially seen damage may be costed, no allowance for unseen damage
Costs assume second hand parts, insurance co. has to use new which may be hard to source
The costs are kept artificially low to make each car appear more attractive...
Insurers may have to provide courtesy cars whilst they source parts which may not exist...

The list goes on and is impossible to fully quantify without an audit of each car and proposed costing estimates.

Yes got that, but, 3 grand to bring a 12k car back to just under 20k with just minor damage
