What projector? Epson TW3200 upgrade
Discussion
Got an the above projector in a permanent ceiling mounted set-up in a basement cinema room (quite dark). It's great and I'm still (mostly) impressed with the picture. However, I've had it a couple of years and just wondering if there is a projector out there now that is a significant improvement that's not mega money? Budget maybe £1000 - £1500.
As you can tell I'm not massively into AV, but I can't help tinkering
Any suggestions?

Maybe if you are prepared to look at used/ex display models you might find a Sony VW40ES or perhaps JVC X35 in budget. Otherwise you might just end up making a fairly expensive sideways move. If you feel to the need to spend, the other option might be to have your existing one calibrated professionally?
There is not much point in changing with that sort of budget, as said you have a good projector for that kind of money. I had the 3210 and wanted to upgrade as I found it did struggle with certain films. After watching gravity on it I was left a bit disappointed. I changed to the epson 9200 and the results left me speechless! They cost around £2700 so maybe to much for you, but if you can stretch then go for it. Everything else in between wont give any big improvement.
Thanks for the replies. I couldn't really find any reviews of anything in that budget that seemed to be a significant improvement, hence the question. I think OldSkool's suggestion of getting it professionally calibrated seems a good first step before spending £££. Found someone local who seems quite well respected in this area. If that doesn't improve things enough I guess I'll bite the bullet and up the budget

I got a sniff of 5 brand new x35's last week. Not sure if they will be still available but I can see what they're going for and if any are left if your interested.
I can also recommend a very good audio and video calibrater if you need to. A good friend of mine is one of the only THX certified calibrater for both audio and video. He has just done one of my client 150k cinema rooms for me.
