Exporting an old car to Oz to sell on
Discussion
Are you moving there?
If so you can take a car you've owned for more than a year, depending on your visa etc. but otherwise it's highly unlikely you'd get it there. Pre 1989 cars are easier.

Imports are very hard to sell on in Aus even if you get it into the country under the personal import rules, The aussies are not really into soft tops either hence why they are rare. It will also cost you about 50% of the cars current value to get it over there, through customs and registered. If it does not owe you a lot and its a keeper then worth doing, to try and make a profit dont bother.

Rare indeed, none in Victoria and only this one in QLDhttp://www.autotrader.com.au/cars-for-sale/1998-BM...
we paid £1800 for one exactly like this but manual and I did see several ragtops in Melbourne
had a quote from these guys
http://www.cargoonline.com.au/
for $1800 which is what piqued my interest, just depends on tax/gst I guess
