This may seem like sacrilege to some but does anyone know if a PDK push button steering wheel will fit onto a 2014 991 GT3. If I had a choice I'd love to keep the standard wheel but I only have one arm ( my left) so unless I drive in auto all the time I need another option. Ideally I could do with someone who could see if a standard Carrera flappy paddle wheel and a GT3 wheel are the same part number. If this is the case all being well it should be a straight swap unless any of you guys can think of a reason why it couldn't be done.

Thanks in advance for any replies
Dean.

It could work in theory as it's just a case of wiring to the switches that are fixed to the paddles or buttons. The "up" and "down" commands that come from opposite side of the wheel could be wired to one side of the PDK button wheel which I think is what you are after. I kind of had this done in reverse on a turbo S when I had aftermarket paddles fitted to a multi function PDK wheel. You might have some coding issues and if you went for the multi function wheel ( is there a PDK wheel without MF?) there would be some redundant buttons but it ought to work in theory.

Best to ask an OPC or a good Indy like JZM as I know they can do this kind of stuff.

Well I've sort of answered my own question. I went to look at a GT3 today at top 555 @ Rutland with a view to asking a few questions about it. I was so dumb struck by the car I just had to have it. It's my first Porsche. I promised myself it after a blind man driving a Volvo knocked me off my Ducati. Quite a lot of broken bones later and an arm that had to be amputated put an end to my biking life. So I decided that as soon as the insurance paid out for my injuries I'd get my dream car, a 911. I never thought I'd ever own a GT3 but now I'm the proud owner of a July 2014 car with 95 miles on the clock. I must say a massive thank you to Charles at Top 555 for the excellent service. I can't wait to collect it, and to be honest Im not too bothered about the paddles. I'm sure the car will be brilliant even if I can't use them. If anyone has any info regarding the conversion I'd still like to hear about it.

All the best for now
Dean.

Congrats on the car!! Funnily enough, I'm in a similar (ish) situation - I've just picked up a C2S with PDK button steering wheel ( non multi-function version). I loved everything about this car aside from the steering wheel so have started to speak to my local dealer about swapping this wheel for a sport-design with paddles wheel. Seems to be relatively straight forward and the dealer can do this for a fair labour cost.

Let me know if you still intend to swap your wheel because we could actually swap our wheels - it's just a thought as the parts cost is fairly steep!

OP - congratulations on your 911 purchase. I am an amputee (lbk) due to an illegally driven Volvo putting my motorcycling on hold and as such have an understanding of your situation. Enjoy your new car!

It's definately something to consider. I'm going to make some calls when I pick the car up to see if the conversion can be done. I could be wrong but I don't think it's as straight forward on the GT3. If it can ill definately be in touch.

No probs, let me know. I hadn't checked on GT3, just assumed they would be similar but could be different
